William Hickey
Wrap Facilitator
Hailing from Charlotte, NC, where he found a passion for helping underprivileged people and people with disabilities while volunteering for organizations that trained service animals, William arrived in West Virginia with the simple goal of continuing to do good work in behavioral health. William graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with his Bachelor of Science in Psychology. During his tenure at Charlotte, William conducted honors-level research on the relationship between health, especially sleep patterns, and academic motivation. Between the academic literature, some of his findings, and personal realizations, William had an epiphany: mental health, physical health, and emotional well-being are inextricably intertwined. Thus, William saw mental and behavioral health as a crucial part of the whole and wanted to start proactively improving this integral aspect of life in others. William switched his focus from the research space and, before starting at HomeBase Inc., spent much of his time after graduation working in the Emergency Department of a behavioral health hospital, helping people through acute mental health crises.
William plans to get his Master’s in Counseling Psychology and Licensure in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in order to continue to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of other people. Further down the road, William hopes to earn his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. With these tools, he hopes to provide exceptional care while educating the next generations on effective counseling.
